Take-Two CEO thinks Microsoft acquiring Activision would be “good”

The CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, recently spoke with TheWrap on YouTube for a “Spotlight Conversation.” The proposed acquisition from Microsoft came up, and Zelnick had a few things to say about it.

Zelnick states he is certain the deal would be a “good thing for Microsoft and the industry” as a whole. He explains that “there’s plenty of room for creativity to go around” since the gaming industry is “fragmented.” However, it’s not clear if this belief is purely for selfish reasons since he also states that Microsoft is an “ally” to them which means that if the deal makes the company “more powerful,” then it’s a good thing for Take-Two.

While the Activision Blizzard deal could strengthen Microsoft tremendously, Zelnick notes that it’s ultimately down to “consumer votes.” The proposed deal is currently under intense scrutiny by regulatory boards around the world. So far, only Saudi Arabia and Brazil have approved the deal, but none have rejected it yet.
