Steam’s seasonal sales for PC games are changing for 2023
Valve has revealed that it’s making some changes to the usual four major seasonal Steam sales and is swapping out one major seasonal sale for a different one. The changes allow them to “create more space” between the four major seasonable sales and provide developers with additional opportunities throughout the year.
As announced on Steam, Valve is ending the Lunar New Year Sale and replacing it with the Spring Sale instead. This change will come into effect immediately in 2023. Valve notes that the Spring Sale was a “popular request” from developers and publishers on Steam. It also explains that the Lunar New Year Sale initially had a positive reception. Still, they’ve received feedback over the years commenting that it was “too close to the December holiday sale period”.
Valve has confirmed some of the upcoming major sale dates for next year:
— Autumn Sale: November 22nd to November 29th
— Winter Sale: December 22nd to January 5th
— Spring Sale: March 16th to 23rd
