Mafia franchise is getting a new game
Hanger 13 has confirmed that a new Mafia game is currently in development at the studio. The team is working on a brand new entry into the popular crime series, and according to rumors, it’s a prequel.
The announcement was made during an interview to celebrate 20 years of the Mafia franchise. Hanger 13’s General Manager, Roman Hladik, announced they’ve “started work on an all-new Mafia project.” He added that it’s “a few years away,” which means they can’t share any specific details about the game but confirms it will have a new story.
A report earlier this year from Kotaku claimed that Hanger 13 was working on a brand new Mafia game and that it was a prequel. There have been no hints yet from Hangar 13 that the new game is a prequel to any of the previous games. According to the report, the new game is codenamed “Nero”, and it will be created with Unreal Engine 5, not the Mafia III engine used for the remasters.
